Pastors Meet at Contemporary Gospel Event in Boston, MA - continued. Story by Grace.W & Sam Mwaura

And it came to pass that the much publicized teens event was finally here. It was February 14, 2010 . Yes, it was Valentine’s Day and KCFA-New England Chapter in conjunction with Oasis of Love was helping their members mark it with a difference at Grace Episcopal Church in Medford, MA.

At four Ruth Kilungu, who was the MC for the day, welcomed everyone present. To start off the activities, those present were invited to get to know at least one person they did not already know. With the introductions over, Ruth invited the Praise Team who led the group in two songs and dance.

The Vice Chairman KCFA-NE then welcomed the speaker of the day Pastor Mo Christian who is a youth pastor at International Family Church (IFC). Drawing from the story of Samson in Judges 13 and 14, Mo spoke on the need to engage in right relationships and knowing God’s will. Whereas Samson was blessed, anointed and called by God, he still made many wrong choices and decisions. The message emphasized the need to know God’s will on ones life and then using this knowledge as the basis for all the choices and decisions thereafter made.

As the program progressed these groups fizzled out and the boys and girls began to mix even as they praised and worshiped God. It was evocative to see the youth flawlessly lead the program and their peers exuberantly worship God in a hill song like style of worship. All those present participated actively in the various activities. The mood was captivating and engaging leaving no room for by-standers. There was something for everyone. Not to be left behind the preacher for the day had an interactive sermon.

After the sermon the activities were transitioned back to music and games. First off was the Cha cha dance with music courtesy of DJ Fresh. Then followed Mingle-mingle led by Carol before the group S.O.G. took over the floor with a dance routine right after a solo presentation of Amazing Grace by one of them. Gladys came on next with the game ‘Agree or Disagree’. Here some weighty questions on issues that youth have to contend with continually were posed and depending on one’s view they joined those with like minds at their designated stations. Members of each group were then asked to explain their stand. The questions and responses generated during this particular session are a rich source of teaching moments for those working with the youth.

By the end of the evening close to a hundred people had been to the function. They ranged in all ages from toddlers to adults. The majority were Teens, k-12 with grades 5 to 12 comprising the largest turnout and the females out numbered the males. The dress code was casual with a few people spotting red clothing. Event ended well with word of prayer and Music by DJ Fresh.

Some of the Questions Asked by the Enthusiastic youth were:
